Mr. Chubbs

Talmage is getting so chubby! It's cute! I call him Mr. Chubbs and his daddy just calls him fat! Talmage is smiling all the time but it's so hard to capture a smile on camera. Once he sees the blinking red light, he stops smiling! Oh well, I'll just have to try harder. Talmage is 3 1/2 months now and growing up so fast! He loves Christmas time with all the lights and sparkles. He especially loves our tree! I can lay him on the floor on his blanket and he'll get so excited just starring up at the tree! This Christmas is going to be so much fun with him! It was last Christmas that I got pregnant with him but we didn't find out until January 7th that I pregnant. We had been trying for 6 months. I've never prayed so hard for something. I pleaded with the Lord to send down one of his little angels. I guess I just needed my faith tested a little. We are so blessed to have this little boy! I thank the Lord everyday for him! He makes me so happy! I get emotional just thinking about him. Being a mom is the best thing that's ever happened to me and I wouldn't trade it for anything! I love you Talmage!

We Sold Our Car!!

Yep we sold our car on Saturday! My little Kia Rio. Now we are officially a one car family and it's been working out great! We're becoming a more frugal family! Jacob doesn't work too far from home so I'm taking him to work and picking him up on days I need the car. The other days I just take care of Talmage, my favorite thing to do! We can start getting that student loan down...fun!

I can't believe Talmage is already 12 weeks! He's growing up so fast! He now smiles and laughs! It is so fun to play with him now. He's developing his personality more and more. He also holds his head up pretty well now.

Tummy time is his favorite! He can push himself up with his arms and look all around. What a curious little boy!
He also loves the TV! Whenever the TV is on, he's turning his head to watch! He even has a favorite color now..RED! Anything RED!
Talmage has a million different faces and expressions! Each time we take a picture, he has a new face! He's such a funny little boy!
OH ya, and here's his STATS:
-13 lbs 6 oz
-23 in long
-72% percentile in weight
-48% in length

Talmage's Blessing

Talmage Jacob Lewis was blessed by his daddy on Sunday, November 9, 2008. It was a beautiful blessing! Lots of wonderful things were promised to him. I am so grateful to have a worthy priesthood holder in our home who can bless our baby. It was a wonderful day and lots and lots of family came to blessing but all we could manage in the pictures were the grandparents. Both grandparents came. Jacob's parents bought him his outfit and I crocheted him his white blanket. Enjoy the pics!

Time Out for Couples

Last night we went to Time Out for Couples. I had heard about from deseretbook.com about 6 months ago and I knew we had to go. It was a little pricey but well worth it! What a great experience. And I also think that it helped strengthened our marriage and bring us closer together. We learned a lot, laughed a lot and had so much fun! Talmage was so good for us too although he was wide awake the entire time!

HIGHLIGHTS FROM TONIGHT:

*Peter Breinholt was there and sang some of his best songs and shared some great experiences he had upon writing them. VERY talented man.

*Doug Brinley was a marriage/family psychologist that was funny and kept everyone's attention. He said with out a doubt in order to make a marriage work, both partners need to be living the gospel fully. PRIDE and SELFISHNESS are the reasons marriages end. He said the best thing we can do for our marriages is pray together as husband and wife every day. This one act is the only thing that binds us together to the Lord.

*Mark Mabry, once again, took our breath away with sharing his inspired work of Reflections of Christ. He shared his testimony on the importance of ridding things in our life that don't invite the spirit. The small things...music we listen to, the books we read, the simplest daily things we do. By doing so, we will come to know our Savior a bit more and be able to receive inspiration a bit more easily. I know this is true.

*Richard and Kathleen Walker (Pres. Hinckley's daughter & her hubby) spoke on 3 main points:

1.Men and Women were purposely created differently. We see and hear things differently. UTILIZE OUR DIFFERENCES AND APPLY THEM TO MAKE ONE WHOLE UNIT!

2.MAKE YOUR SPOUSES HAPPINESS HAPPIER THAN YOUR OWN.
Is this really possible? It's the natural man to take care of yourself first. Kathleen said she asked her mom (Marjery Hinckley) one time how to maintain such happiness in a marriage. Her response was: LOWER YOUR EXPECTATIONS.

3. Do we REALLY understand and apply to RECEIVE one another?
*Receive each other as best friends.
*Receive each other unconditionally, just as we are.
*Receive each other as #1.

Arizonans Said YES for Marriage!

On November 4th, Arizonans said YES for Marriage by voting YES on Prop 102! Prop 102 passed by a resounding 56% to 44%.
Now, Prop 102’s 20 simple and clear words that define marriage as the union of one man and one woman will be placed in the Arizona Constitution, the highest law in our state.
Arizona is now one of the 30 states where the people have spoken to define marriage as the union of one man and one woman in the state constitution. Today’s results show how simple and timeless values can unite people from all ethnic, religious, and political backgrounds.
Thank you to everyone who supported Prop 102 with your votes, time, and resources!

Prop 102: One Man. One Woman. That’s Marriage.

Updates and Pics

Well sorry it's been a long time since I've blogged last. Talmage is now 7 1/2 weeks old! He's almost 2 months! Time flies! But he's getting cuter and cuter. We've now discovered that Talmage does not have colic. We has acid reflux which is what I have. He no longer spends hours crying! I am so glad. He has his times when he has tummy aches but he is doing so much better! He tends to throw up though every now and then. It used to be everyday but lately it hasn't. His eyes are changing too...they are becoming more of a crystal blue. They are so pretty! I love that little man! Here are some pics!

Funny Pic

Here's a funny picture of Talmage. We were about to leave Grandma and Grandpa's house so Jacob put him in his car seat. Obviously he didn't want to go. He would not let go! That little boy has such a strong grip! I guess grandma and grandpa's house is more fun!

Sleep? Who needs it?

First of all, Talmage is the best baby. He can't help that he gets tummy aches. We think he has colic. The past few nights, he sleeps until 1:00 am and then stays up until 4:00 am screaming because of his horrible tummy aches. 3 hours straight...It breaks my heart. There is nothing I can do to make it better. All I can do is just cry with him. I hate seeing him in pain. We have Little Tummys Gas Relief Drops which work pretty well when he gets tummy aches during the day but not at night. Poor little guy! I honestly think that I no longer need the recommended 6-8 hours of sleep. I think it's the power of motherhood that keeps me going on 3 hours of sleep every night. Sometimes I ended up getting 6 hours but I'm waking up every 2 hours and sometimes staying up for 3 hours in a row so it feels like I'm getting no sleep. But I am making it! Just looking at that cute little boy keeps me going. I know it's all worth it! I would do anything for my little boy! I would never sleep again if I had to!

Does anyone have any advice for colicky babies? Anything that works?

I can't believe it's been 4 weeks!

Today Talmage is 4 weeks old! He's already getting so big! He is such a good little boy! Everyday he gets better and better. He's starting to eat and sleep lots better. To me, he's practically the perfect baby! I just realized how lucky I am to have such a good baby. Lately I've been hearing lots of stories of women who have had babies that won't latch on. Talmage has been a great eater and he latches extremely well. It is not even painful. Also, he takes to a bottle perfectly when I need to pump. From the moment he was born, he's been the best eater and I am so so grateful. I love my little boy and am so thankful he is healthy and beautiful. He's so sweet. I feel privileged to be his mommy!!! Motherhood is the best. I can't believe how wonderful it truly is. I can't wait to see what the future brings but I also want to treasure each moment. Sometimes I wish he could be a newborn forever but I know it will just get better. He'll be a great big brother. I love him soooo much!

Here are some recent pics over the week. The 4th picture down is a pic of him getting his hearing test done at the hospital on Saturday. He looked too cute not to take a picture. Also last week we bought a Boppy pillow and he loves to take little naps and just lay on the pillow. He's so cute!

Happy Birthday Talmage!

Sorry for the late post. We haven't been able to get to the internet.

Talmage Jacob Lewis was born on Saturday, August 30, 2008 weighing in at 7 lbs 13 oz and measuring 20.5 inches. He was born at 2:33 pm. I had a great fast labor (once I got the epidural of course). He is so perfect and we love him so much.
